Over the summer, Artists for Kids was the host of various creative endeavours by many students. They got to explore their artistic talents, make new friends and express themselves while enjoying the sunshine of summer break. Led by art specialist teachers with the help of high school art assistants, days were filled with drawing, painting, sculpting, collaging and printmaking. Week-long day camps for students in Grades 1 through 5 took place at the studios at the Gordon Smith Gallery.
Paradise Valley Summer School of Visual Art
Hosted at the Cheakamus Centre, the 29th Paradise Valley Summer School of Visual Art overnight camp saw 92 campers from the ages of 8-15! While exploring their surroundings in Paradise Valley, campers worked in small studio groups while building their individual skill development and artistic voice.
Working with the artist in residence Samuel Roy-Bois, the camp was filled with sheer goodness, creativity, and imagination. Samuel provided mentorship and inspiration to young artists focused by his message of ‘play, make, think.’ Check out Samuel’s Instagram to see some more photos of what was created.

Artists for Kids Fall Portfolio
Samuel’s contribution to supporting our community’s young artists extends beyond his work at summer art camp. Samuel has donated a limited edition artwork to the 2024 Artists for Kids’ Fall Portfolio and will be available soon for purchase.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information about the Fall Portfolio.
