| âBy NVSD Communications YouthLAB is a Family Services North Shore initiative created to address mental health challenges young people face, from a youth-led perspective. YouthLAB meets throughout the year to learn, discuss, and work on projects around mental health topics affecting youth, including anxiety, depression, trauma, gender and sexuality, health relationships, and social justice issues. Each year, students work on a major outreach project that focuses on engaging youth on these topics, reducing stigma and creating stronger communities. This year, to mark CMHA Mental Health Week (May 2-8, 2022), YouthLABâs 11 members--youth in Grades 10-12 from schools across the North Shore and Bowen Islandâcame together to develop the Youth for You! website. The purpose of the site is to share with fellow peers their reflections and perspectives on wellness, mental health and social justice related topics. YouthLAB student members hope the website both serves as a reminder that youth are not alone in their experiences and inspires empathy toward anyone who may be struggling.
