Starting school with safety
This school year kicked-off with a focus on safety in school zones across the North Vancouver School District. The North Vancouver RCMP, ICBC Road Safety, City of North Vancouver bylaw department, District of North Vancouver bylaw department, and the North Vancouver School District teamed up to host safety blitz campaigns in school zones before and after school. The purpose was to bring attention to the need for safe driving in school zones as kids head back to school.

Queen Mary Community Elementary School, Norgate Community Elementary School, Lynn Valley Elementary School, Cove Cliff Elementary School, and St. Edmund's Catholic Elementary School all hosted safety blitz'.

A special thank you to all school principals, City of North Vancouver Mayor Buchanan, RCMP Superintendent Bhayani, North Vancouver RCMP officers and Road Safety volunteers, CNV and DNV bylaw officers, and Harvey Kooner of ICBC for your support.

"Parents, students and teachers were very appreciative of the visible presence by police officers, bylaws and set-up of Speed Watch/Cell Watch by volunteers. The school zones were definitely calm with so many highly visible stakeholders coming together to educate the public to slow down, leave the phone alone and focus on the road," said Kooner, Road Safety & Community Coordinator, ICBC.
