Biography
Kulvir has been a resident of the North Shore for almost twenty years and is a parent to two children in the Handsworth Family of Schools. She is committed to all students having the best education, regardless of their ability, ethnicity or gender and believes students should have resources and opportunities to reach their highest potential.
She
worked as an Active and Safe Routes to School Facilitator for HASTe (Hub for
Active School Travel) on the North Shore to promote the importance of walking
and biking to school. Working with schools like Carson Graham Secondary and
Holy Trinity Elementary, she developed school travel plans and best routes to
school maps by collaborating with the school administrators, teachers, parents
and students in line with the new curriculum.
Believing in the importance of working in a team environment and the abilities of parents to have positive and proactive impacts in their communities, Kulvir has taken on leadership roles with her children's PAC and NVDPAC in recent years. She also volunteers with Family Services of the North Shore on PEDAW (Provincial Eating Disorders Awareness Week) and Christmas Bureau, and also with the Harvest Project on their campaigns.
Kulvir has been elected to the North Vancouver District
Public Library Board as a new trustee and is also a North Shore Disability Resource
Centre board member.
Some North Vancouver School District projects that she has personally been involved with and helped develop include: New Kindergarten Booklet, Active & Safe Routes to School Program, Celebrating & Supporting Complex Learners, Milo the Robot Resource, School Gardens Initiative and Master of Disaster Emergency Preparedness Program for all Grade 6 students in B.C.
Kulvir devotes her time and energy to creating better communication, transparency, fiscal responsibility, building relationships and more collaboration with all partner groups to have the best learning environment for all kids in North Vancouver School District. "All kids matter and should feel a sense of belonging" is her motto.
