It has been a very powerful week at Norgate. Staff have enjoyed meeting with students and parents throughout the reporting conferences. Our school feels very strong with your presence. Thank you.
On Tuesday, Ian Kennedy, Principal of Carson Secondary School read "Stellaluna" by Janell Cannon to our students; it was a very positive morning and a great way for our students to meet their future Principal! Students and parents are invited to the library every morning in preparation for a great day at school, and Tuesday's Sharing Story has proven to be a great way for students, parents and staff to come together. Thursday, November 16 was Louis Reil Day. We honoured him for his strength, leadership and the sacrifices he endured to preserve Metis rights and culture. We thank Heather Myhre for recognizing the Traditional Territory of the Squamish People, and for gifting a Traditional Métis legend to students and staff. Heather encouraged everyone to continue to support community and share the legend with others. Norgate is proud to strengthen our Understandings and Aboriginal Ways of Knowing in support of indigenous and non-indigenous youth.
