Mountainside 2015/16 School Start-Up Information

There are a number of items below that you will find useful regarding the next 2-3 weeks of school, including intake information, class start dates, school fees, and our family dinner. Please read the information below.

School Start-Up

  • Teaching and support staff have been back at work the last two days with training and a staff retreat. Staff contracts do not start until next week, but we have many things to get to, so they all agreed to come back early to begin this work
  • First day of school for the North Vancouver School District is September 8th. Mountainside students will not have scheduled classes the week of September 8-15.
  • Teacher advisors will be contacting families to arrange Intake Interviews for the week of September 8-11. You should receive a call or e-mail by September 8th at the latest. If you have not heard from someone by then, please call the school at 604-903-3333.
  • Intake Interviews are mandatory before a student can start with us in the fall. They are a chance to meet with teacher advisor, set short and long term goals for the year, sign forms, pay fees, choose courses, and make sure folks are ready to start back at school.
  • The first day of classes for students will be Tuesday, September 15 for all students who have undergone the intake process.  Your intake interview will confirm the exact time of arrival for that day. 
  • Any student who does not arrange an intake during the week of September 8-15 will need to coordinate their Intake Interview with their teacher advisor outside the school day at their earliest convenience, which will delay their school start.

School Fees for 2015-16

  • Student Activity Fee - $80 (covers supplies, local field trips, celebrations, and consumable educational materials)
  • Lunch program – meals will cost $4 each next year, which is up from $3, but is actually the cost to the school
  • Grad Fee - $25 (Grade 12's only, payable now or in June)
  • Yearbook Fee - $25 (optional, payable now or before students receive a yearbook in June)
  • School fees are payable via cash, credit, or debit at the school. Unfortunately we are no longer able to accept cheques.

Mountainside Family/Staff Night

  • Tuesday, September 22, 6-8:00pm
  • A chance for Mountainside students, parents, caregivers, and staff to meet each other, share in a meal together, and learn about the many programs and offerings at the school this year
  • The school will provide dinner, starting at 6, with a meeting to follow from 7-8pm
  • Family members are invited to attend.
  • Please mark your calendar. I will send out more details asking for an RSVP, but for now, just hoping you can mark the date.
