What should I do if my child is sick?

If your child will be absent from school due to illness, an appointment or any other reason, please use the Canyon Heights callback line- 604-903-3292  or Messenger both of which are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to report your child's absence.  This lets us know that your child is safe and not expected at school for that day.  If your child is not at school and we have not received a call from a parent/guardian reporting the expected absence follow-up calls are made in order to locate your child.

Do the students go outside at recess and lunch if it is raining?

Yes, they do. Please ensure that your child has appropriate clothing for the weather, including boots, raingear, umbrella, gloves and so on. Teachers also encourage students to have a change of clothes, for the inevitable splashes and encounters with mud. Occasionally, we may call an "Inside Lunch" if it is particularly windy and rainy. Students are then expected to do quiet activities in their classrooms.
