Located at Argyle Secondary, Handsworth Secondary, Mountainside Secondary and Seycove Secondary, Grades 8-12
In partnership with
Basketball BC, the
North Vancouver Recreation Commission, and Vern Porter Consulting.
The Basketball Academy consists of two cohorts:
Cohort 1 - A select competitive stream at Seycove Secondary open to all genders.
Cohort 2 - An academy stream that provides for the participation of all genders, regardless of their basketball experience. West Stream at Mountainside Secondary (run out of Handsworth Secondary), East Stream at Parkgate Community Centre (run out of Seycove Secondary) and Central Stream at Argyle (run out of Argyle).
Students are placed in the cohort where Basketball Canada determines they will best perform.
The program consists of a basketball curriculum as set out by Basketball BC and is in compliance with the BC Ministry of Education Prescribed Learning Outcomes for Physical Education. Students earn their grade-equivalent P.E. credit upon successful completion of the program.
Note: Registration in the Basketball Academy will not affect a player’s ability to play on their home school’s basketball team.
