International Programs video earns top award

October 27, 2014

InternationalStudents.jpgNews Release: A welcome win - North Vancouver School District International Programs Video earns top award from the National School Public Relations Association.

In June of 2014, the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) announced the winners of its 2014 Publications and Electronic Media Competition.  In the category of Electronic Media Communication, Video, the North Vancouver School District won an Award of Excellence, the top tier of recognition from NSPRA, for its international programs promotional video: “Welcome to North Vancouver School District”.

Produced by Ballistic Arts Media Studios, the video sends an inviting message to parents and students considering North Vancouver for an enriched learning experience. Through interviews with visiting students interspersed with a wide array of compelling footage from across North Vancouver, the video illustrates the quality of teaching, learning and lifestyle that define the School District’s international education program.

“International students make a valued contribution to our school learning environments,” says Superintendent John Lewis. “This video shows how their presence and perspective encourages global thinking and cross-cultural understanding in schools and classrooms throughout our school district.”

Students in the video were not scripted and their own words describe what the program has meant to them. “My experience in North Vancouver was really great,” says Xenia, a student from Germany. “I made lots of friends, learned to be more confident here and my English has also improved. I think it really shaped me.”

“We know that international students have many options in where they may study abroad,” says International Program Administrator Lynne Bolen. “Our place on the world stage is enhanced by this video, which provides a welcoming window to all that North Vancouver has to offer.”
