Elections BC

July 30, 2014

General Local Elections on November 15, 2014:

As of May 29, 2014, Elections BC, a non-partisan Office of the Legislature, is responsible for administering the new campaign financing and advertising rules for local elections, campaign organizers, candidates, elector organizations, and third-party sponsors.  Local jurisdictions maintain responsibility for administering voting and accepting candidate nomination forms.

Requirements that are new for the 2014 General Local Elections include:
  • Candidates, elector organizations, and other election participants must now file campaign finance disclosure statements with Elections BC within 90 days after an election, rather than the previous 120 days
  • Sponsorship information must be included on all election advertisements
  • Third-party sponsors must register with Elections BC and file disclosure statements
  • All campaign disclosure statements will be published online by Elections BC.
More resources for the public and local elections participants will be added to the Elections BC website as information becomes available.
