| Contributor: James Bell - Electrical Coordinator, North Vancouver School District The North Vancouver School District electricians from our maintenance department recently put the finishing touches to the exterior lighting upgrade at Capilano Elementary School. The older, inefficient HID light fixtures were replaced with newer, efficient LED luminaires. More light fixtures were used to increase the light levels around the school. The lights are all on automatic DDC control, which can be turned on and off at proper times making this an energy efficient system. “Capilano Elementary School has had ongoing challenges with the exterior lighting, says James Bell, Electrical Coordinator at NVSD. However, with our small but talented team of electricians (Scott Langeloo, Trevor Hostyn, and Jeremy Neal) they turned this around. I commend the team for their hard work, and balancing work on this project while working on similar projects throughout the district. The team worked diligently through rain and snow to complete this upgrade; and used leadership in the design process, which showed great workmanship during the installation. Thanks to students, staff and parents for their patience while we performed this upgrade over the last few months.”
