On Thursday February 23, 2017, my class (Ms. Merrifield’s grade 4/5 class) went to CTV Weather School. We had to walk and go on a city bus. The bus number was 240 and 241. We left at 8:00 a.m. and we were there at 8:40 a.m.. We were early so we had to wait 30 more minutes. We went to the studios at 9:00 a.m..

When we were there we were split up to two groups. My group first learned about how they keep track of the weather and how they put together the weather report. I met the weatherman, whose name was Marke Driesschen. After that, we went to the green screen and pretended we were weather reporters. It was really fun and difficult too. Then we did a group wave and we also waved for Robbie because he is in the hospital. We also got free pencil cases and a pencil.

We left CTV Weather School and then we went to Tesla. Our class learned about electric cars and why they are better for the environment. On the way home there was traffic, but we finally made it back to school.

Since we had to be at CTV Weather school at 9:30 a.m., we had to be at school at 7:50 a.m.!! We took the city bus and it was SO crowded with people. Almost everybody had to stand. Luckily, where my friend and I were standing a person got off. So my friend and I were able to sit and just talk while the others were stumbling all over the place.

When we finally made it there (it took about one hour by the way) we got to do and learn some cool stuff… and I mean COOL stuff!! But of course there was A LOT of security! After that, we learned about how the people used the green screen. It's a LOT harder than you think. Very confusing too, but still fun!!!

It wasn't just the green screen that we learned about. We learned how they find out how the weather forecast is put together too. Finally, they got us on TV, and since Robbie (who is in the hospital) didn't get to go, we said, “Hi Robbie!!!”

This is a cool part too: Since CTV Weather school is right next to the Tesla electric car showroom, we saw and learned about electric cars. We've been learning about natural resources and sustainability in science class. We even got to go inside one! It was pretty cool.

Then we went back to school in the bus. Not a school bus, but a normal, public one, like before. And the exact same thing happened… me and a friend got to sit and talk while the others were just stumbling all over the place! Then we finally arrived at school.
