Description
Unity (1918) written by Kevin Kerr, directed by Windsor drama teacher, Marjorie Dunn. In the fall after World War 1 a fear of the “Spanish” flu fills the town of Unity, Saskatchewan. Drastic measures are taken in attempts to prevent the plague from entering Unity The town is quarantined, trains are forbidden to stop, no one can enter, and the borders are sealed. Mail from overseas, feared to be carrying the deadly virus, is gathered then burned. But when the disease descends upon the town despite their precautions, the citizens turn to each other for support and against each other as they attempt to find a scapegoat for the crisis. Windsor Theatre Company will be performing Unity 1918 in the Theatre BC North Shore Zone Annual Festival of Plays. The festival will include a presentation of Canadian plays in celebration of Canada's 150th Birthday. It will be adjudicated by Kathryn Shaw, the Artistic Director of Studio 58.
